WELCOME

Since 1994, DNS has brought hands-on nature, science, and environmental education to the Four Corners.  We offer something for every demographic and age group.  Our mission is to bring nature into the lives of our students and communities.

SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS

Durango Nature Studies is a model for providing standards-based environmental education in partnership with school districts.  Currently, DNS provides free programming to Durango, Ignacio, and Bayfield school districts, and subsidized programs for the rest of the region.

THE NATURE CENTER

DNS owns and operates its own 140 acre Nature Center along the Florida River.  It is used as a learning laboratory for our school programs and a community resource for other programs.  Over 8,000 people visit it each year.
