Durango Nature Studies offers nature based after-school enrichment programs for children elementary students.  Our beloved Nature Club takes place on school grounds and is open to Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at select schools.  This is a great option for kids who love nature and science.  We will be offering 4 sessions in Fall 2019. Each session will have a focused theme and will include plenty of time for outside exploration. Nature Club is led by our staff educators and runs from school dismissal until 4:30.

In Fall 2019, we will be holding Nature Clubs at Animas Valley, Florida Mesa, Park, and Riverview.  In addition, we are piloting a new after-school program (Discover Club) for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Park Elementary and at the Smiley Building.  For more information or questions, contact the instructor for your child’s specific club or our office directly at 970-769-1800.

NEW for FALL 2019: Given the mounting benefits of providing children opportunities to explore and connect with the natural world, we are piloting a new after-school program — DISCOVER CLUB — for older elementary children (grades 3, 4, and 5).  We are launching Discover Club at Park Elementary (Thursdays) and the Smiley Building (Wednesdays).  As with Nature Club, this program will run from school dismissal to 4:30pm.  Discover Club members will join our staff educators in exploring the amazing array of open spaces surrounding Durango, learning about the flora, fauna, and geography, and just getting a chance to connect to the natural world after a busy day in the classroom.  Discover Clubbers are transported in DNS’  van, so space is limited.

If a Nature or Discover Club is full, you can be added to a wait list.  Simply contact the educator associated with that particular Nature Club. For general questions regarding Nature Club, please contact 970-769-1800.
