Teacher Trainings
DNS offers a variety of trainings for teachers. Based on our successful model of providing environmental education for students from Kindergarten through high school, we have created curriculum and successful programs that can be incorporated into traditional school settings. We teach workshops using our own model, as well as workshops using Project Wild and Project Learning Tree. The Nature Center is a wonderful place to participate in a training, as it offers a great atmosphere for learning in the outdoors.
As trainings become available, we will post them here. We would also be happy to design a specific training for your group of teachers. Contact Program Facilitator, Grace Gordon, to discuss this option at grace@durangonaturestudies.org.
This hands-on learning experience for any teacher working with students in K-5th grade, will help teachers learn ways to get their students outside during every day lessons in all subjects. It will also help teachers focus on science concepts by using engaging activities and outside games.
