Recruiting Docents for 2019

A small cabin welcomes visitors to the Durango Nature Center.
Do you love being outside and also helping others learn about and appreciate nature? If you are looking for a way to give back to the community, consider being a volunteer docent for Durango Nature Studies. This service doesn’t require a lot of time, and focuses on your interests.
Trained docents spend at least two Saturdays of their choice between May and October greeting people at our 140-acre Nature Center in Bondad. The Nature Center is open from 9a to 2p (as long as we have a docent on duty). Our goal is to have enough volunteers to have 3 hour shifts or 2 people on duty. Can you help us out? Duties include:
- Handing out maps
- Taking entry fees
- Telling people about the flora and fauna of the Nature Center
- Handing out interpretive information
- Signing up new members
- Selling merchandise
We will be conducting a tour and overview of docent duties on
Sunday, April 14, at 1:00pm at the Nature Center.
Docents receive a DNS membership and some swag.
